Where You Win

In Hiawatha

There’s a big, emphasized “Hi” in Hiawatha’s city logo. That tells you a lot. This town is all about friendliness. Yeah, it’s located only minutes from the action of Cedar Rapids and Marion, but it’s never lost its small-town feel. It’s a great place to live, raise a family, and become part of a community that actually feels like one. If you’re looking for a more-relaxed pace of life in the Cedar Rapids Region, get to know Hiawatha.

Always Saying

“Hi” in Hiawatha

This is the kind of town where everyone knows their neighbors. You’ll have to perfect the “walk and wave” around here. That’s what happens in a close-knit community of about 7,500. Dozens of recreation programs and yearly events only add to the atmosphere. Hiawatha’s sense of community is evident throughout town, but especially at these places.

Guthridge Park

Hiawatha’s hub for recreation and community connection. In addition to a splash pad, playground, pavilions, and numerous courts, it’s the focal point for most town events. Music in the Park, the Dog Jog, and the Hiawatha Farmers Market all take place here.

Hiawatha Farmers Market

Speaking of Guthridge Park and the Farmers Market, it’s one of our biggest events of the year. The Market opens the first Sunday in May and continues weekly through the last Sunday in October. Vendors from across Iowa offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, baked goods, honey, meat, and arts and crafts.

Dave Wright Family Dog Park

Because your four-legged friends are part of the family, too. This 2-care park offers space for your dogs to run and the opportunity to connect with your neighbors.

Recreation

It’s always a good day to play in Hiawatha. Home to five public parks and connected to the broader trail system that runs through the Cedar Rapids Region, Hiawatha is built for active families. We also hold a variety of structured youth and adult programs throughout the year. We’re talking sports, art, yoga, and cards.
